Fair Work Information Statement
If you are an employer in Australia, it is important to provide your employees with the Fair Work Information Statement (FWIS). The FWIS informs employees about their workplace rights and entitlements under Australian law.
The FWIS covers a range of topics including minimum wage rates, leave entitlements, and workplace protections. It also includes information about the Fair Work Ombudsman, who can provide assistance and advice to both employers and employees in relation to workplace laws.
Employers are required to provide the FWIS to new employees before or as soon as possible after they start their job. The Statement should be provided in a language that the employee understands and can include additional information specific to the employer’s workplace.
By providing the FWIS to your employees, you can help ensure they are aware of their rights and entitlements, which can improve workplace relations and avoid potential disputes. The FWIS is just one of the many ways in which employers can promote fair and safe workplaces for all employees.
